Broken information environment isn't changing anytime soon. And Dems need to recognize that politically, an underpants gnome political strategy of "We fixed things (and they did)...prosper" has left them with Republican trifectas after two straight (successful policywise) Dem admonistrations.

This polls well but it's either small-bore stuff that won't motivate anyone or stuff swing voters believe they'll abandon again as soon as the election is over. "This time we'll really fight corruption!" Ok. Why don't you work on that polling that shows swings don't believe you'll do what you say.

the electorate has behaved almost exactly the same for 10 years. 2024 was basically a carbon copy of 2016 and with Trump having the same approval ratings as 2018, 2026 is likely to be similar.

idiosyncratic elections with bad candidates in VA/NJ don’t change that (they don’t have to win by 10 more than Kamala or we’re doomed - we lost some senate seats even in 2018).

3. Even if that‘s fool’s gold, we’re at The point in a midterm that is usually pre-collapse honeymoon phase. Trump 2018 was an aberration. 2009 and 2021 were pre-deterioration for Obama/Biden. These may still be the Trump golden days.

1. Dems are winning elections this year like the generic is 10+, more than in 2017
2. That supports the idea that people will vote Dem and turn out but are so disgusted they won’t tell pollsters…

Actual elections this year are consistent with a D+10 margin. But a large number of Dem friendly voters hate the party so much right now it seems they cant bear to tell pollsters they’ll vote D. (this does not mean everything will be ok)

Not possible to always just speak extemporaneously if you are running/running for a complex office like President or NYC Mayor. Not only do you have to know policy, you have to speak on different things every day. There's lots of policy to know. No one demands scientists only speak off the cuff!

She needs to win by double digits just to match other elections this year and not underperform. And that’s not taking into consideration any Dem better be pulling Kim Jong Il #s in NoVa or they’ve screwed up.
