The Paris in NYC is one of my favorite cinemas and that’s thanks to Netflix.

"Surely it doesn't need to be said that Paul Dano is one of our greatest actors. Anyone who doesn't get that doesn't know what acting is. He's also a brilliant director and writer, a very snappy dresser, and a gigantic mensch." --Tony Kushner

QT is quickly becoming the ornery, mean-spirited Arthur Laurents of the cinema. (I prefer Arthur Laurents the good playwright and QT the, er… Well, I liked Pulp Fiction in college.)

I truly believe that this is her legacy, not necessarily the movies.

Our dishwasher broke yesterday but our beloved group of 8 doesn’t care that we’re using nice plastic plates. If that’s our biggest issue, as Fred Ebb wrote for Lotte Lenya, So What? Happy Thanksgiving!

Feels like the night Obama’s re-election in 2012. The 2020 one was…long and nerve wracking.

If we’re doing birth years, 1992. I like to think I’ve seen and read a lot, but that’s probably a delusion.

If there’s a scene where the little punk comes up to Larry and says, “Mr. Hart, only vampires are unphotographable” I’m in. And if not, I still am. Next, a movie of Mary Rodgers book please.

I’m always leery of musical theatre biopics (and I’ve heard that this one features “Little Stevie” at opening night, which is entirely inaccurate— Older Stevie would have given notes) but Hawke looks great in the trailer, and I think the Larry Hart story, however sad, is very much worth telling.

It’s also a very timely, very exciting and very excellent film by a true master. See it!
