Stranger Things S05E03 features a Sugar Cream Pie. That might be the show’s most specific reference to Indiana’s surprisingly great food culture ever. The pie is delicious, and it’s my favorite cameo. Nutmeg and the “secret ingredient” probably aren’t necessary, though.
Spoiler alert…
Season RUINED!

The best part of Wicked 2 is the background characters who just graduated from magic school with no actual spell-casting ability. They know the Wizard’s a fraud, but the jobs are comfortable, so they never question anything publicly.
That’s the “gritty realism” the Batman franchise pretends to have.

Hawkeye is the Zeppo Marx of the Avengers.

Uncanny X-Men #141 (Days of Future Past) has one of the best panels ever. The Sentinels’ organized mass murder began with mutants, but the gravestones show it never stopped there. Once you target any group, it won’t stop where you want it to.
Save Spider-man, and save yourself too.

I just met a 5 year old Dinosaur Train fan, and this is what I couldn’t say to her…

Consider the madness of Mr. Conductor from Dinosaur Train. The train forces him to confront history in its totality. He has witnessed the asteroid that will annihilate everything he has ever known or cherished.

Anyone who laughs at 'Dead Internet Theory'—the idea that the internet is now mostly bots talking to each other, with humans on the margins—clearly hasn't scrolled through my Facebook feed.

Hey, John Bender from The Breakfast Club (1985), that carton of smokes your parents gave you for Christmas? That’s about $150 today. Maybe show some gratitude, man—those things aren’t cheap!

I’ll never be made a saint, but if a canonization committee ever considers it, they should know: any miracles associated with my intercession will almost certainly involve code (including exploits) that shouldn’t work but somehow does.

I know Hollywood is all about the multiverse these days, but Linda Blair will always be the real Regan. The reboot still looks really scary…

A Clockwork Orange(1971) and Easy Money(1983) make the same point - real personal change has to come from inside. You just can’t torture or bribe people into moral behavior.
However, Easy Money has an original soundtrack from Billy Joel, so it’s a MUCH better film.

I know SOME people are really worked up about book bans lately, but we have consider what might happen if your kids get corrupted by the works of someone like Jack Kerouac.
They might become too cool to hang out with you.

For YEARS, I’ve been quoting the line from Michael Clayton(2007) “I’m not the guy you kill. I’m the guy you buy” in hopes that someone would bribe me. That STILL hasn’t happened, but at least nobody has killed me yet.

I finally made it to the secret room in Adventure for the original Atari VCS. This was the first “Easter egg” ever in a video game, and I can now confirm that it’s still there.

Want to know what it’s like to be a white guy in an interracial relationship?
I went to court with my wife today. Everyone kept assuming I was her attorney. We’re co-defendants, because I don’t think she would ever hire me.

We won the case. I’m still not a lawyer, but I’m taking the ”W” anyway.

I found a new variant of the Turing Test.
Apparently, the publicly available Large Language Models can read about the TV show Alice, but none of them seem to understand one important detail:
Flo’s grits were NEVER literal.

Want to know why Clark Kent’s glasses worked so well as a disguise? It’s simple…
Most people are just too polite to mention that he’s Superman. Sure, some people instinctively respect his privacy, but I bet most people just don’t want to get into it.

I was probably too old for the Digimon fandom 20 years ago, but I’m happy to see that it’s back, even if it’s in the form of a novelty beverage.
It’s drinkable, which makes it better than season 3.

Hey, fans of Stand by Me(1986), which blows your mind more…
That Jerry O’Connell is the hot one now
Or
That Corey Feldman isn’t the dead one?

The critics were very wrong….
Megamind(2010) is a much better film than its twin The Incredibles(2004).
And yes, the villains in both are problematic for the same reason.

Strange Brew(1983) is the best cinematic adaptation of Hamlet EVER!

Video games are “America’s true art form” every bit as much as Jazz music is.
