SpaceX's 7th Starship test on Jan 16 saw the Super Heavy booster caught by the "chopstick" arms, but Starship lost communication after stage separation. Debris later spotted over Turks & Caicos suggests the vehicle didn’t survive.

Blue Origin (founded by Jeff Bezos) successfully launched its New Glenn rocket for the first time on January 16, 2025, from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The rocket reached orbit. However, the rocket's booster could not land on a remotely controlled ship in the Atlantic Ocean.
