Snow cover means it’s a good day to burn our brush pile. Year’s worth of limbs gathered and bagged leaves from town are soon incinerated. Pretty good evening. Kids stayed occupied on the snow pile as a sledding hill.

Was a bit startled to have bumped into a high school classmate while grabbing coffee today. I was mired in a late day effort to saw and was dusted accordingly. A bit of my ego was questioning my life choices that put me where I was but in the end I am proud to be doing the work I do.

Learned a fair amount about water well contamination and septic systems today. Wasn’t planning to do either but here we are at day’s end slight smarter about both.

Got this gable dormer mostly framed today. Past the tricky parts for sure. Not perfect but happy enough.
One thing that came to mind: this was far from automatic for me. Having some solitude to just think on it was vital. Got to remember that when tasking others.

Changed the whole house water filter this morning. My goal is to work like a pit crew and be done before the family notices I shut off the water. 12 month streak so far and counting.

Organized a PPE cabinet, discussed thermostat placement, graded rock, graded a yard (not pictured) fixed our well (also not pictured) and caught the sunrise of the month. There will be better days but today will do.

In the spirit of posting more: here’s a pic from work. 1. I love these leather bags. Still breaking them in but the authenticity and durability are unbeatable. 2. Handy trick to make a hook for hanging them. Set a nail about 3/4” out and claw the hammer to make a shelf. Works slick.

I’m posting here about 12x more than I do in all other social media combined. It’s a two tiered effort: firstly it’s practice at making posts worth reading. Secondly I want this to succeed so I figure posting should help more than hurt. Time will tell on both.

I enjoyed a nice walk through the Flinthills this morning. The only downside was my choice of footwear and having to push a bicycle with a flat tire.

My company finished a solid project today. Super collaborative effort with several great companies. I intend to remember the gratification of this job well done as we look for the next.

Thinking about motivation and finding something to smile about. The troubles of day can sour any puss. Exuding positivity is really hard to do, but I’ll be damned: it actually works. Not only for those in your orbit but for yourself. I’ll keep trying.
