Bill, please drop the "assuming it does get better" from this. You know it will. Even Germany got better. We need less wailing and hand wringing and more focused and intelligent discussion and action.

I lost faith that any republican (outliers notwithstanding) will ever buck the party line to do what is right. They will only act when reelection is in jeopardy. Liz Cheney exemplifies what happens when you do.

One of the great missteps in broadcast news was going 24/7. They not only cover just the stories that are cheap to report on, but with so much time to fill each day, they spend 5% of the time reporting on the news and 95% of the time speculating on the news. And that's the devil in the details.
