After 9 attempts in Bass Strait, Voyager finally completed an 81km passage on the 10th.
Lessons: potting electronics, brushless servos, integrated trim-tab wing sail, really well sealed housings, & years of improving the sailing algorithms, sensor calibration and software fixes.

Sailing trials for Voyager 2.9, with the new Tailless Self-Trimming Wing Sail. She will now be prepared for the ocean again, and will be heading into Bass Strait soon.

Beautiful dawn launch at Flinders, on 13 April. Voyager sailing drone heads into Bass Strait. The mission ended sooner than hoped, but we still gathered valuable data and lessons.

The Voyager Sailing Drones are an ongoing development of low cost autonomous ocean-going sailing drones, utilising a self-trimming wing sail. The sailing drones are currently controlled using Teensy microcontrollers, using C++.
