Leadership and Management development person, big on the whole diversity and inclusion thing. I want to help people have a good time at work and reach their potential. #leadership
I fully agree with values-based leadership, and remembering our values in making difficult decisions, but am nervous about the idea of bringing religion explicitly into the workplace #leadership

Completely agree, well-designed processes embed good habits, they're how you embed change - not glam, but effective if done well #leadership

I think everything in this fess is "worse" than everything else ever.

I think the same is true on an individual level - defending our own ideas even if better ideas might be out there, but they're not ours!!

Micromanaging a robot...

"Luck fades, systems scale ..." absolutely love that! We tend to look for heroic individuals because that's more glam than imagining a systemic approach to greatness. It's also more prone to corruption and failure, and becoming an uncritical cult of personality #leadership

"So you're saying ..." ... never a good sign of a robust argument.

This is becoming an increasingly big problem as more and more people write books, and so many people are funny and interesting, and writing about such fascinating topics - I simply don't have time for real life.

Oh, I thought it was just me being incessantly bombarded with Tai Chi ads (for over 50s)

I'm a bit more relaxed about this sort of thing, languages are living evolving things, where the American word is better, there's no reason it shouldn't replace the clunkier British version. My fave is to pronounce "bouy" as "boo-ee", a fun pronunciation that annoys the purists, it's a win-win.

As frustrating as that is (and it really is), the act of writing the report (and consulting on it) is a great way to organise thoughts and fill knowledge gaps ... so yeah, it's annoying, but not entirely wasted effort.

New Year's Resolution: support local shops over supermarket chains where you can.

Yes, the Apple Notes app works across devices, but I don't much like it - will take a look at Obsidian, thanks.

The further I am from my computer screen, the better I write. The problem is that the further I am from my computer screen, the more likely I am to forget everything.

Agree, I unilaterally wave thankyou, and do the acknowledgement wave recognising the original thankyou wave.

Oh yes, good idea, I never use Scroll Lock, except to turn off Scroll Lock when I've accidentally knocked it and turned it on.
