Traveler, educator, pretty good Joe.
Except when building a brand, name recognition goes a long way in getting established. Your perception of a vanity project may just be a businessman's plan to save hundreds of thousands in advertising revenue.

Oh, you sound fun. Are you one of the people who used to chastise Mother Teresa for not being saintly enough?

Yes. It's going to be a long haul trying to bring grace and eloquence back to social discourse. Leaders and media personalities must chart the course.

It's a brilliant piece by Carville in the NY Times. He's actually urging Democrats to be more progressive by embracing a platform of paid child care, health insurance for all, a $20 minimum wage, and free college tuition. I'd add that they need to advocate breaking up ag and tech conglomerates.

Could it be that they've been scrubbed clean? How would the House/Senate know if they had been? What recourse would there be?

NPR reporting that the House Parliamentarian stated that the existing 218 signatures on the discharge petition stand, regardless of new members being sworn in or members wanting to have their names removed.

We believe in creating a world where human rights are protected and no one is above the law. Justice, like war, must be waged; it doesn’t just happen on its own

Yes, America is asleep. I would've expected general strikes nationally in transportation, health care, education, and other fields. I'm loving the large protests, but don't think they're moving the needle on poll ratings. Gotta hit people in the pocketbook here to wake them up.

Agreed. I supported her, but would have preferred another of the several qualified candidates who could've run a more effective race. And for her to now be trashing everyone in her new book speaks volumes. . . .

Trump would have zero power if not for the people around him, including the Republicans. It's not him you have to worry about, it's them.
November 2, 2025 at 2:54 AM
So, the question is, who's planning the counter? What defense do we have? Project 2025 was published for a full year before the election, and yet the Democrats (and Americans in general) were caught flat-footed. Where are the ballsy legal minds who can devise and execute a plan to stop a third term?

Not in WaPo either.

This is the message to be repeated over and over and over, right until the midterms.
October 19, 2025 at 10:17 PM
Please remember that the Republican House and Senate are complicit. They could shut down much of what’s happening with simple votes. It’s an important point as the heavily gerrymandered midterms approach.

Let’s please not lose sight that it’s the Republican House and Senate that are allowing the destruction of our democracy. Important as the heavily gerrymandered midterms approach.

WILD political flipping from this woman. Is anyone asking her about this, asking her to explain her previous stances and outrageous behavior? Could it be lip service to the changing political winds in her district?

Mom okay. Just saw her and sister Carol in Atlanta. In Seattle today, boarding a ship for Alaska, then Japan. A few more stops before home to Singapore in November.

It's an excellent and very thoughtful piece by Klein, and he and Hasan are correct: The Dems need to take strong action against Trump's takeover, and a shutdown with proper messaging is a good start.
