Need some cuteness in your day? Here’s the Meeper. Now just about 6 years old, we found her one bitterly cold night when she was about six weeks old. She’s deaf, has a mild case of wobbly cat syndrome, and believes if anything is worth doing, it’s worth doing 211%.

Back in Maryland after a trip back home in the mountains of western Colorado. Had this lovely sunset on my birthday.

Summer 2021 at the Old Creamery Co-Op in Cummington, Massachusetts. We have a lifetime membership. Their blueberry pies are phenomenal.

A few images of around 17th St., NW and I St., NW (often spelled “Eye Street” in Washington, DC. The White House complex is two blocks south, the White House itself two blocks south and one block west.

Note the “No Kings” sign partially covered by the notice of tomorrow’s imperial parade.

I’ve been living in Washington, DC for 14 years and just learned that George Washington University holds graduation on the National Mall.

Meeper’s philosophy: If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing 211%. When it comes to afternoon naps, that means napping like a human.

It’s Saturday. A day of not bothering helps us bother later. The champion of not bothering says so herself.

One of District of Columbia’s great hole in the wall eateries. Off 19th Street NW between M and N Streets.

Hobbes (right) and Meeper (left) under the tree. Christmas gifts opened. Waiting to be opened here are some of the Hanukkah gifts and birthday gifts for my niece and son (27th and 30th respectively).

He had the FBI bade replica and seal added after retirement in 1996, and bought the case to make the display for me in 2008.

I need to have the barrel filled with led so it will be a true display piece. I’ll pass it on to my niece or nephew.

Took possession yesterday of my dad’s Smith & Wesson Model 19 (a .357 magnum). He carried it for 22 of his 29 years in the FBI. It’s the first gun I ever shot.

He was on call 24/7, even on vacation, so he was required to always have his gun. He wore it on planes. Everywhere.

Dad died in May.

Got downtown an hour too early, today so Inthought I’d go take a picture of the White House wreath, which is visible from. Lafayette Square /16th St. NW.

Forgot it’s Dec. in an election year. Construction zone for Inauguration bleachers and stage are well underway. White House barely visible.

Did I ever share these photos of me in a hand-made birch bark canoe from this summer? Because here is me in a hand-made birch bark canoe a family friend let us take out on the lake next to their New England cabin on the lake. Also a close up of the canoe.

Early morning sun, looking south from Farragut Square toward the White House. Taken about 25 minutes after sunrise.

Some light reading a few blocks from the White House this day before Thanksgiving. The thing about being game studies adjacent is the periodic thought about doing game studies.

I’m really happy to see @darkerhue.bsky.social’s Harlem Unbound get a couple page spread plus this full-page image.

A delightfully cool morning strolling through Farragut Square two blocks north of the White House.

Picked up the Paranoia Shiny New Edition TTRPG book, and I've sketched out scenario Operation R.A.T. Set in Sector RAT, the mission briefing officer will likely be dressed as a big-eared mouse with red shorts and yellow gloves and shoes.

Remember, Citizen, reading this message is treason!

New followers, you’ll periodically see photos of Farragut Square and the surrounding District of Columbia environs, all a few blocks north of the White House because I’m regularly done in Farragut Square.

Farragut Square this Election Day morning. The west side of the White House complex is about two blocks south of the park.
