Today's catch
On a wide open pink zinnia, a skipper butterfly gathering nectar. Same skipper butterfly on another of the flowering zinnia. At least three gulf fritillary butterflies and a skipper butterfly on the flowering pink zinnias. There is a large flowering marigold in the background with another gulf fritillary there.

Will Rogers in his stage outfit which consisted of boots, chaps with hanging leather strands, a lasso, a kerchief around his neck and his cowboy hat. He did comedic stage work similar to that of Mark Twain. The text reads: The money was all appropriated for the top in hopes it would trickle down to the needy. Pics from today. pineapple is one of three I placed into the greenhouse last winter. Back they go. Early, but the sun is giving them plenty of shine. Zinnias are still blooming, and the butterflies are tearing up what nectar's left. Mostly Gulf Fritillaries but due to the wind, none of them to share
The pineapple back under the cover of the greenhouse. The smaller one is further under but can be seen on the left edge of the photo. Also pictured is the not yet thriving avocado tree started from a pit - spring 2025. It's partner that's been torn up by bugs is in the whitish pot at the bottom left corner of the frame. Off to the right of the photo are two Meyer's lemon trees with one of them starting to flower. They will go under the front porch to protect them from frost in a few weeks. They get plenty of sunlight there due to the low angle during the winter months. A Common Blue Skipper? gathering nectar from a pink zinnia. The center of the flower is a dark red while the surrounding parts are yellow. The body of the Skipper is a blue green color, and it's almost iridescent. the spots on the wings look like paint dripped onto them in almost a circle of dots. A close up of the skipper on the same pink zinnia. It closed its wings just in time for the picture.

W.C. When feeding the horses this am, came across a banana spider and its web where the lizards hunt daily.

Couple of tarantulas I met while living in Arizona. wonderful spiders.

Friend who's quite knowledgeable about them told me they were likely migrating through the property.
A brown tarantula that was trekking through the yard. Legs included, between four and five inches in diameter. This tarantula is smaller than the first one and solid black. About three inches in diameter. Also migrating through the property. We never saw any evidence of any type of tarantula living on that property. On our previous home about three miles away, there seemed to be a home in a low stonewall that went from the driveway halfway around the house. This is the little guy from the second picture. I set my glove on the ground to give sort of a context for the size.

One of my cousins now owns the house bought for her by her seven kids. Cheryl, who now owns it had not born when this was taken.

Everyone but the baby grandma is holding is older than me.
1958 A grandmother proudly holding one of her grandchildren with six others standing in front of her. There are five of her grandchildren who are not pictured here. When all was said and done, grandma had 24 grandchildren. She gave birth to seven children and raised them as a single mom through the depression.

This is him circa 1959. Dapper fellow. Even when not wearing a tie, always buttoned his shirt's top button. The number of great accounts or stories is only limited by my memory.

A teaser of sorts:
5' 6" ran numbers for the mob until he married the big guys daughter who had been his mistress.
A balding older gentleman about to turn 60 years old dressed in a blue gray three piece suit. His striped tie matches his blue gray suit and lighter colored gray vest perfectly. He is sitting at the breakfast table with a cup of coffee on a saucer touching his left hand. HIs right arm is bent and resting on the back of his chair displaying his watch with a black band. There is a bowl of sugar on the table with a matching container filled with cream to its right. The piece in the middle of the table is an ashtray. Not for the fellow as he quit some 6 years earlier. The kitchen has some very dated wallpaper that is pink with semi circle blue dots over the top of another image of a rose. Beginning week three without the local PBS station broadcasting.

According to their website, their transmitter was hit with a power surge a little over two weeks ago and this message has been the only thing broadcast since.

Watching on the tablet just doesn’t cut it.

I've no clue. they're all over the property RN. Many different sizes and types. Some varieties must be very edible, because I see squirrels running off with them in their mouths and no dead ones anywhere. lol

here's another like the that one in the pic with a rounded top.
A giant toadstool kind of brown looking in color. It measured 7 inches across the top and about five inches off the ground. Okay, fwiw I do not want to meet the toad that uses this as a stool. toad would be nearly a foot tall.

Understood. No one feels at ease unless maybe a MAGAt.

I wish I could advise how to organize such a thing but those with the power to do so are behind what needs to be done by at least six months. If they screw around too long, trump will make protesting illegal. Here's a meme to remind others.
