It has worked with too many of their targets.

Pitch framing is either to make sure a borderline strike is called a strike or to get a borderline ball to be called a strike. One outcome is good, the latter is arguably bad. Why would possible suppression of catchers’ salaries, unlikely in the long run, be more important than getting calls right?

I do feel sad for her, but regrettably, we need that sadness if there will be a chance to break Trump’s trance. A lot of disdain for her here, but remember, she’s someone we will need to change her vote to join us for a better future. Disdain for her and glee in her problems won’t help with that.

Very efficient to have a few million workers stop what they’re doing to send an email justifying their work to someone who has no idea what they do. The question is not whether Musk is high IQ. It’s whether he has any organizational systems acumen at all. How can this be reality?
February 22, 2025 at 8:29 PM
No, but justice was the point. The establishment wouldn’t accept a fight for justice that threatened its position so they elevated & attacked the extremes, making them the story. Now they’re using the full weight of their power to crush all comers. The woke scare is the Reefer Madness of our times.

My opinion of him, while of no relevance, continues to evolve. I was just pointing out that I thought his actions were detrimental. I tried to have a respectful dialogue to share my concerns. We briefly discussed. We disagree. It’s okay.
February 18, 2025 at 9:38 PM
Of course. I started in this thread by critiquing TCW. I haven’t spent any time here telling people on the left that they are too extreme.
February 18, 2025 at 9:23 PM
What are you trying to accomplish?
February 18, 2025 at 7:54 PM
What doesn’t make sense is why the wishcasting on Trump has continued for so long and why people project so much awesomeness on the man. It’s hard to know how to react to those with such a break from reality. Saying “I told you so” is not going to do it. It’s such a sad time.
February 18, 2025 at 6:25 PM
Because we’ve been “just asking questions” for so long that we didn’t see right in front of our faces the extremes that were true all along.
February 18, 2025 at 6:16 PM
I’m just not seeing what exposure on X will do to extreme accounts here. It’s clear that exposure of excesses on X do nothing to slow the festering. I think it does more harm to the persuadables than any benefit. I’m open to learning more. Just don’t see it.

I’ve read quite a few @chatterton.bsky.social articles over the years and have found him to be a good writer with more depth and nuance than comes across in social media posts.
February 18, 2025 at 4:39 PM
We have a gravely damaged social fabric largely due to excesses on social media, and we know these platforms are polarized. Elevating the excesses on Bluesky to X is only serving to feed tribalism. My perspective is that it damages rather than repairs. Is there something I’m missing?
February 18, 2025 at 4:36 PM
It’s hard to reason with people who entered the online anti-woke bubble. It’s not serious to propose that blatant racism and the Federal erasure of non-binary people is a reaction to the overplaying of the “woke” hand. If anything, the establishment reaction is a justification for increased DEI.
February 18, 2025 at 4:28 PM
You can’t reason with extremism. What I’m objecting to is taking posts from Bluesky over to X to show the crazy. I think that’s doing a lot of damage for no good reason. @chatterton.bsky.social not only did that, but he called it insanity on X and then did it again. I’ve reluctantly unfollowed him.

If you don’t understand the domain, you won’t know the right questions to ask or, if you ask decent questions, how to interpret the answers. This type of dependence on AI is lazy shortcutting that leads to shoddy work.
February 17, 2025 at 7:40 PM
You called this insanity at the other place. I follow you in both places and largely appreciate your takes. It’s disappointing to see you going to X to disparage Bluesky. I wonder the motive?

I understood some of the linking of the Uncle Sam stuff, but I couldn’t connect it to the performance.
February 10, 2025 at 7:27 PM
I hope that’s the case, but as someone who’s unfamiliar with his music, I couldn’t understand a word he was saying. I didn’t catch much of a political or social vibe either. I’m being sincere.
February 10, 2025 at 7:24 PM
This is not real. This one is…
February 10, 2025 at 6:16 PM
@sonnybunch.bsky.social got me to go to theaters for Civil War, Strange Darling, and Companion. (Enjoyed them all.) Not going to happen on this one.
February 10, 2025 at 6:10 PM
Patience. For Main Street, nothing has happened yet.
February 9, 2025 at 8:47 PM
That’ll get you through the first quarter.
February 9, 2025 at 8:44 PM
Many experts and media gave Trump and his government supporters the benefit of the doubt by finding morsels of legitimacy in his worst actions. It’s still happening today.

There was talk of the shifting Overton Window, but not much analysis of what the shift would mean and how things would break.

Then it seems they need to redirect their attention.
