Sure for the long term I’d agree. Could he potentially be that again for next season? I think so. Would he be more likely to be a Yankee after next season than Skubal? Also definitely yes.

If I’m the Yankees GM knowing I have limited salary space open for this offseason, if I can get a really good righty starter off a 5.5WAR year for 8 mil next season, I’m willing to part with a lot for that. Obviously Skubal is the better pitcher, but as I’ve been saying, context is important.

Didn’t see your other points since they weren’t in-line responses to mine… so that’s my bad. I still think you’re undervaluing Peralta’s 2025, and the context of ~14 million to the Yankees in terms of a trade for a rental pitcher. But I don’t know ball I guess lol
December 16, 2025 at 9:04 PM
Do you disagree with the point that trade value is not exactly equivalent to on-field value? If so, then using bWAR as a value metric you used earlier, they were 1 bWAR apart this past season. Do you think that context matters otherwise?

In the context of a Yankees podcast, an extra 10 million dollars does actually matter bc Hal Steinbrenner remains publicly adamant about staying under the cohen tax.

So far you haven’t explained why the original point is so ridiculous. Tovar and Witt is obviously not at all a comparable to Peralta and Skubal.
December 16, 2025 at 8:43 PM
Not sure I understand the hostility. Freddy Peralta is extremely good and I could see the Brewers less inclined to shop him than the Tigers with Skubal. Hence why I don’t think the original take is so ridiculous.

Player value on the field is not 1:1 with trade value, and my point is that the trade value of Peralta and Skubal this offseason would probably be closer than a lot of people think.
December 16, 2025 at 8:26 PM
Fair enough I was reacting to that part of the original screenshot.
December 16, 2025 at 8:23 PM
Ok fine but a 1.213 WHIP and FIP over 4 followed by surgery and a bad season is not gonna fetch a high price.
December 16, 2025 at 8:20 PM
He’s of course more valuable but doesn’t mean the cost to trade for him would be much higher
December 16, 2025 at 8:19 PM
Also, Alcantara hasn’t had a good season since 2022 and the Marlins always trade away their talent for less than they should bc they’re cheap
December 16, 2025 at 8:17 PM
I’m a fan of Talkin Yanks and don’t think this take is super ridiculous… the Brewers just had the best record in baseball and Freddy Peralta is on a low salary next year, and there’s probably more of a chance if he’s traded that he’d sign longer term. No shot Skubal isn’t going to free agency.

I actually kind of enjoyed it but I didn’t need Chester A Arthur to be Ron Swanson

I wouldn’t know, I’ve very carefully crafted a TikTok algorithm that only shows me baby animals and dudes answering baseball trivia questions 🙏

This is helpful! Thank you

Point taken, but would you not be curious as to why all those sources are saying that? Like, what’s in it for all the mainstream and internet media to gin up a falsehood that everything is less affordable? Wouldn’t convincing everyone that money is tight be what businesses *wouldn’t* want to do?
November 27, 2025 at 4:43 AM
What is the explanation for why the vast majority of people believe things are less affordable now though?

I think it’d be more beneficial if that were explained rather than just saying everyone is delusional.

Regular area for people who work on/near the WH grounds to go get lunch or park/metro in to get to work though. I’m just thankful my friends/coworkers in the area were all inside at the time
November 26, 2025 at 8:19 PM
Seeing it now. was concerned bc I have friends working in that exact area
November 26, 2025 at 7:56 PM
But what’s the source you’re getting that from?
November 26, 2025 at 7:41 PM
Source?
