There are 9,000 to 12,000 transgender people serving in our military, that represents .6 percent. Will this order have a major impact on the Army’s efficiency or effectiveness? Of course not. What’s more important is the message it sends. That trans people are “less than”.

As an American living in Spain for the past 3 years, I can confidently say the vast majority of Europeans I meet are shocked and confused by what’s happening in the U.S. right now. Their disbelief is palpable.
