it also doesn't really put a dent in the top line, customers may whine about it but won't actually leave for competition & a few high profile hacks have shown that, so why bother?

in other countries, when a member of a legislative party doesn't vote with their party, they're removed from it. They're still in the legislature, just as an independent & can't run in the next election under the party banner...
