Living on unceded Dharawal land - I'm a lot older than I once was - I lean leftward, but sometimes despair at what I see on 'my side' too - I grow potatoes in cardboard boxes
Yep. Also, shades of Tony Abbott’s promise to ‘shirt front’ Putin.

No, thank you! Time reading your work is time well spent - and it makes for a happier me.

It looks equally stupid, but its owner doesn’t expect it to be taken seriously, and it probably wasn’t ‘designed’ by a nazi.

Yep. Our car has V2L, although we haven't used it yet. So essentially, we have two batteries in case of blackout
February 18, 2025 at 4:58 AM
Exactly - for us it's 38c/kWh from the grid , but only 5c/kWh feed in - much better to use it than sell it! With careful planning, we can charge our EV pretty much from solar only (second EV is on its way). Currently trickle charging, but will move to 15AMP soon

Aboslutely - we're only two months in, so it's only Summer data so far. We think Autumn should be good, but WInter might be less so. Right now we've retained Controlled Load 1 for hot water, but will probably change to solar, then the water acts as a abother battery of sorts

13.2kW PV, hybrid inverter and a 10kWH battery. The battery charges to 100% nearly every day, so that gives at least $3 worth of generated power per day. It'll often charge up and partially discharge a number of times, so we're not drawing from the grid during cloudy periods of the day.

Similar story to ours, except it was the inverter that died. Could have replaced it, but the new system, with much better panels, is even better than we’d hoped. So much so, we’re thinking about adding another battery.

Nice work, Mediawatch

We had a 13.2kW (and 10kW battery) system installed in December. Yesterday - Sunday - was probably our best day for generation vs load, with lots of sun but mild tempterature. Also, in just two months we've recouped over 6% of the cost of the system.

You’re welcome. I think that’s the typical response to every Oils song 😬

That was a great (and entertaining) interview. Thanks!

I don’t think the technical glitches lost you any love this morning. Thank you for the wonderfully open, honest, and informed discussion. This will be a regular and anticipated part of my weekend henceforth.

Yes, this is all true and there looks to be little appetite for improvement. Another local example is ABC’s complete ignorance of the Cairo Cafe incident. Funny how management believes that doesn’t qualify as newsworthy, while they were all over the NSW nurses gotcha case. Oh, the same goes for SBS.
