Yeah literally the only two places I've ever seen "latinx" mentioned for example were a. people complaining about the language police and b. an improv group in my city who chose to use the term to describe themselves

Johnson basically poisoned the well of Reconstruction before Grant could really effectively do anything. There's a reason why many call him the nation's worst president.

The worse, and I *think* this has gotten better, is that on civil rights we basically went from the Civil War to like 30 minutes on Plessy v Ferguson and then boom the 1950s and then MLK. Like, guys, there were some years we missed...

The worst thing of course is that we have to pretty much sit with all of this for the next 2 years. We just plain do not have a way to kick out a guy early unless the majority of his own party is for that.
I mean, don't get me wrong, this is outrageous and we should protest and help those in need.

Also, it's my experience as a career city-dweller that women are a *lot* more vigilant than men are. Like, I think one of the underrated things about dating is learning that so many scary things exist that you never, as a guy, even thought about (which doesn't just apply to the city of course).

The hope here is that the potentially federated nature of Bluesky will allow people to go off and make their own curated version if/when this gets Xittered. Right now that's only a hope because, like, they haven't actually implemented federation...

I saw those attempts as just generally a bad idea, but then when the sports franchises started weighing in about the "sacred" quality of their parks I was like "no, wait, we should just do nothing but this". Fuck a sacred park. If sports are a religion then Seattle are the Canaanites anyway.
