The Cubs got him from the Sox for Bill Buckner, so you all can in a way pat yourselves on the back for continuing the Curse.

At the same time I feel like people should know about for example your own history with Twitter compared with Bluesky

It helped discover you, which is great! But it also exposed us all to Woody Paige

I don’t even know what 89 is doing there, standing straight up and going right at the tackle…

Obviously I am very very blinded to the experiences of the average latino/a/e/x person, not being one myself, but you'd think that if it were a bigger issue you'd have more than tone-trolling and the occasional "guys, let's use this term"
February 17, 2025 at 5:53 PM
Yeah literally the only two places I've ever seen "latinx" mentioned for example were a. people complaining about the language police and b. an improv group in my city who chose to use the term to describe themselves

Hate the reprisals against indigenous people, love the sacking of Atlanta is what I always say. Or just pretend that Sherman stopped existing after 1865...

Johnson basically poisoned the well of Reconstruction before Grant could really effectively do anything. There's a reason why many call him the nation's worst president.
January 31, 2025 at 6:49 PM
The worse, and I *think* this has gotten better, is that on civil rights we basically went from the Civil War to like 30 minutes on Plessy v Ferguson and then boom the 1950s and then MLK. Like, guys, there were some years we missed...
January 31, 2025 at 6:48 PM
tbf to vote against Reconstruction you'd also be voting for people who were into genociding our indigenous population
January 31, 2025 at 6:46 PM
The worst thing of course is that we have to pretty much sit with all of this for the next 2 years. We just plain do not have a way to kick out a guy early unless the majority of his own party is for that.

I mean, don't get me wrong, this is outrageous and we should protest and help those in need.
January 28, 2025 at 2:46 PM
I'm reminded of Rush back in the day whinging about the "rape police". Like, no, my dude, that's just the regular police...

YAH MY D00D THAT WOULD MAKE YOU AN R SLUR AMIRITE???? LOLOL R SLUR FUNE

Also, it's my experience as a career city-dweller that women are a *lot* more vigilant than men are. Like, I think one of the underrated things about dating is learning that so many scary things exist that you never, as a guy, even thought about (which doesn't just apply to the city of course).

The hope here is that the potentially federated nature of Bluesky will allow people to go off and make their own curated version if/when this gets Xittered. Right now that's only a hope because, like, they haven't actually implemented federation...

And it's not like they even "focus on economic issues" in an actual progressive way! Like, come on, where was the talk of holding big business accountable for predatory pricing during COVID and for that matter the LA wildfires?

I saw those attempts as just generally a bad idea, but then when the sports franchises started weighing in about the "sacred" quality of their parks I was like "no, wait, we should just do nothing but this". Fuck a sacred park. If sports are a religion then Seattle are the Canaanites anyway.
