Oh jeez guys, maybe the NIMBYs are right…
Allow corner stores, and Badiali will suddenly pop up in every neighbourhood!

💯 It’s the survivorship bias problem.

The blue areas can be infilled but it won’t lower the region’s carbon footprint since they already have walkable/transit densities.

But infilling the yellow areas can tip them into that category, reducing carbon footprint for both new & existing residents.

Mississauga’s updating its Clarkson GO station #MTSA policies to convert 10ha of irreplaceable employment lands for housing.
Why? Because they intentionally drew the boundary to exclude low-density “established neighbourhoods” of bungalows that are literally across the street from the station.

Here’s a picture of the Alberta tar sands, which you may notice has been more completely denuded of trees than your solar farm and is covered by open air tailings ponds full of toxic waste. Open face coal mines look similar, although drier.
Sticking with fossil fuels is worse.

He’s misguided on many points, but especially urging the PM to say “It could not possibly matter less” about the official residences.
The PM’s residence being uninhabitable is a real problem, and we need to start treating them as an important government function rather than a perk for party leaders.

A short addendum:

You might think limiting third-party spending on elections is a good thing! And it is.

But this law was written to sever any communication and collaboration between civil society groups for a quarter of every government term, should any of them dare to make political statements.

Yes, I am confident that Ontario’s Building Code doesn’t require unique layouts for each unit in a fourplex.

I don’t know… the G&M’s chart of the day shows that Canadians who make 3 times as much per year as the top 1% of the richest age bracket will no longer pay less tax on their next dollar than a more typical wage-earner!

The Globe & Mail’s chart of the day shows how unfair the federal capital gains tax increase is going to be to Canadians… making 3x as much annually as the top 1% of Canadians in the richest age bracket.
