I think it was 2010 when Gina and I were racing Pikes Peak and Malcolm Smith was there to support his son. He came over several times to offer his wisdom and to remind me to look after Gina.
Malcolm was an interesting guy. So much life packed into one lifetime, but an approachable person.

I think it was 2010 when Gina and I were racing Pikes Peak and Malcolm Smith was there to support his son. He came over several times to offer his wisdom and to remind me to look after Gina.

The interstate in Kansas is not a great place to enjoy scenery. Its straight, flat, and boring. In the town of Victoria though, is St Fidelis Basilica.
Seeing a spire in the distance must have been a great relief to travelers on foot back in the day. Respite.

Out on that long road, thoughts passing through your mind like the dashes of the centerline. The air rushes past but you still feel a stillness: been moving too long. Somewhere there's a place to rest. In the darkness those thoughts will catch up again... have to outrun them again in the morning.
