How about Greenland? The "thought" is the 11th Airborne out of Alaska will be mobilized against Minnesota, but regular army could be sent to Minnesota. Highly trained Arctic combatants would be better used for an Arctic environment like Greenland, no??

NATO will continue, with or without the US. Europe - and NATO - have enough modern training and firepower, russia would be pounded like a cheap minute steak. They can't even handle Ukraine who is fighting with hand-me-downs, and home-made back room weapons.
