I had a great July 4th in Vermont. Did events in Montpelier, Warren, Rochester and Bristol.

While Republicans celebrate the passage of the largest Medicaid cut in history, the Curtis Medical Center in Nebraska announced it will shut down as a result of these horrific cuts — the first of many hospitals to close.

This is a dark day for rural America and for our country.

Trump's decision to withhold nearly $7 billion for afterschool, summer and educational programs nationwide is illegal and unconstitutional.

Congress unambiguously passed it. The president signed it into law. Trump has no right to withhold it.

He must release this funding.

Weird priorities. President Trump is illegally withholding $7 billion Congress appropriated for afterschool and summer programs, teacher training and other educational needs. Meanwhile, he’s demanding a trillion in tax breaks for the 1%.

That's not what the American people want.

Robotics and AI are revolutionizing the economy.

Who benefits? Who gets hurt? How do we make the new technologies benefit ALL, not just the few.

That is the major economic issue of our time.

It is a dark day for freedom of the press. Paramount’s decision to settle with Trump will only embolden him to continue his attack on the media.

Trump is undermining our democracy and moving us towards authoritarianism, and the billionaires are helping him do it.

Many seniors can’t afford dental care, hearing aids or glasses.

I’m proud that all Democrats supported my amendment last night to expand Medicare to cover dental, hearing and vision paid for by cutting prescription drug costs for Medicare in half.

No Republicans voted for it.

I hope my Republican colleagues will listen to their constituents and vote against this obscene legislation, which is a massive wealth transfer to the very wealthy from the working class.

It is obscene to give tax breaks to the top 1% by throwing more than 16 million people off health care, cutting nutrition for hungry kids and making it harder for working class young people to go to college.

That is exactly what Trump's budget reconciliation bill does.

This 940-page reconciliation bill has a list of horrific provisions. One of the worst is a $211 billion tax break to the top 0.2% who inherit $30 million.

In this bill 16 million lose health care & hungry kids lose nutrition. Meanwhile, billionaires get much richer. Disgusting.

How grotesque.

The Republican reconciliation bill cuts nutrition programs for hungry kids in order to give tax breaks to billionaires.

Good luck to my Republican colleagues in explaining the morality of that to their constituents.

We must not throw 16 million low-income and working class Americans off of the health care they have in order to give massive tax breaks to billionaires.

That is obscene.

At a time when the working families of our country face major crises in housing, health care, education and other areas, we should be investing our resources in improving life for the American people, not wasting money on a war with Iran.

Today, Israeli forces again opened fire on people desperately trying to collect food aid, killing dozens. Over 56,000 have been killed so far.

While 60% live paycheck to paycheck & kids go hungry, Jeff Bezos, worth $230 billion, goes to Venice on his $500 million yacht for a $20 million wedding & spends $5 million on a ring while his real tax rate is just 1.1%.

End this oligarchy.
