TIL if on infield fly you have to return to the base if caught but don’t have to return if dropped. I thought the runner had to return and infield fly had same effect as caught ball. Would be fun to see a runner take advantage of this on purpose.

In this instance, I think Passan is telling you salary implications to answer “why” the Angels are dropping him after going through arb not to start class war. Could be wrong

Baseball has the best path for teams to save money and build farm systems for 3-5 years and then spend their surplus and call up their prospects when they see an open window. Orioles and Pirates would be good examples if they weren’t currently indefensibly sitting on their hands
