Our in-depth review article on the functional #morphology and mechanics of #sloth suspensory locomotion out as a preprint. The manuscript will appear as a book chapter in forthcoming book on #arboreal #locomotion.

These differences again underscore the convergent #evolution of suspensory #locomotion in sloths. After all, the two lineages leading to the two modern genera already split some 30 million years ago.

This paper compares limb kinematics between three-toed sloths #Bradypus and two-toed sloths #Choloepus.
Now we know: Not all sloths move alike! Despite similarities, there are also some differing kinematic strategies.
