Yes they can (and do try to do this during the game) but if they don't co-ordinate it well, they can leave a lot of space behind them, that the attacking team can easy run into with a ball over the top of them. Good teams can really exploit that type of defending if they over use it

He's finding his feet nicely, great balance, never stops moving, two steps ahead of everyone but starting to slow it so others can be on his wavelength. A great team leverages all the individual players in it, 5 wins out of 5 and he's played every game. Can't ask for a better start than that.
