Sandhill Cranes (Antigone canadensis) were leaving the lake where they had spent the night at sunrise at Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge in Alfalfa County, Oklahoma, United States on November 25, 2025. They fly to find food and return before sunset. The wildlife biologist reported more than 60,000 sandhill cranes present a few days before this photo. Many of them stop here on their way South for the winter.
