The government’s plans to cut £5 billion from the support to disabled people will result in immense suffering &, as we’ve seen in the past, loss of life. I have asked Ministers what monitoring will take place & what level of suffering will force a change of their cuts policy.

Good to meet up with many of my friends in the Labour Animal Welfare Society campaigning with farmers to improve animal welfare standards.

Labour’s policy under Keir Starmer is to recognise the state of Palestine as part of the peace process. So I questioned the Foreign Secretary about how he will decide that the time is right. It’s clear to most that recognising Palestine now will help lay the foundations for peace and justice.

Just back from Hayes and Yeading United’s last game of 2024. A welcome 1-0 victory secured in the 87th minute against Sutton Common Rovers. Points gained by a determined team fighting to the end.

I’m backing Sarah Owen’s Fireworks Bill to control the use of fireworks, especially to tackle the antisocial use of fireworks & the harm that is done to animals.

Just called in to meet the team at our local Tesco’s in Yeading collecting for our local Trussell Trust Foodbank. Thank you to the Tesco staff and Foodbank volunteers for their hard work in providing this wonderful service to our community & to all those local residents donating.

Fantastic, must see performance of “Much Ado about Nothing” by Intermission Youth Theatre. Terrific acting by this young cast.

The reality is representations urging Israel to stop the killing are ignored by Netanyahu & the Trump election gives signal to the IDF it can continue to act with impunity. Only a new boycott, disinvestment & sanctions strategy could have any effect. It should be a core demand on UK.

Wonderful to join the headteacher, teachers, parents & children at the marvellous William Byrd school in Harlington to plant the trees, which will grow to form the outside classroom areas as the schools develops its role as a forest school. Another great initiative by this marvellous school.
