Costa Rica provided so many opportunities to see the weird and wonderful of the avian world.

Appearing from the shadows, this Thicket Antpitta is a subtly incredible species - and was only achieved with the expert guidance of Raul Obregon Birdman CR

From watching mot-mots on Friday morning to the thrill of a new Cramlington species for me today - 4 Egyptian Geese at Shotton. Unexpected bonus with Black Redstart and a showy Peregrine. No camera and no phone adapter for the scope, hence…

Very pleased to see this early morning - a poor digi-scope effort as it was very dark indeed!

Red-headed Bunting, Flamborough 2023

The star of a rarity filled day, albeit not the most photogenic!

With Two-barred, Pallas’s and Dusky Warbler in the vicinity and the Caspian Stonechat on the drive back it was a cracking day.
