You're right on the main point, though. It's a HIGHER threshold than the 60 votes needed to beat a filibuster. It's also fixed *in the Constitution*, unlike the filibuster which the Senate can change or remove at any time.

This possibility is why the Founders put the Speech or Debate clause into the Constitution. (They didn't think of *everything* but got a lot of stuff right.)

Won't happen soon. The "money men" behind Trump are the big tech guys who will stay with him as long as his hands are on the financial regulation levers. They will also support Vance if Trump exits early, at least at first.
