Liberal-minded anti-brexiteer. Politics, finance, people and not in that order! Opinions painfully my own. Subject to change depending upon evidence - principles rather more fixed. Hopefully aging disgracefully.🔶🇪🇺🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇬🇧

The chancellor should definitely have consulted this bloke about the correct description of the title and his personal belief it should mean something else. What is the country coming to?

From his time at Birkbeck teaching financial economics to stints in industry, MPC, and now OBR, David Miles is and always has been worth listening to.

So, the worst that CX did was omit forecasts not supportive of her actions. If this is the new standard then the entire HOC has to be fired for not including "unhelpful" info in election leaflets. As for Farage, surely prison beckons for failing to warn about consequences of loss of Dublin Cnvtn.

Not the Brexit deal. Brexit.

A truly terrible idea pushed through with prejudice and lies. A recipe for disaster. And that’s exactly what it’s delivered. Damage in every sphere of our national lives.

The last people to finally admit that Brexit was an unmitigated disaster, will be those with the power to do something about it.

Take your time, Starmer and Co, it's only peoples futures at stake.

Two and a bit years for HMG to develop deferral mechanism for payment upon transfer of house. Even for householders without any cash, this isn't going to be a problem. Biggest issue for HMG is if they're able to book the revenue as accrued but not paid and therefore stay within budget limits.

Thank you, you've read it so we don't have to! Not touched that rag since Murdoch got rid of Harold Evans and went all-in for Thatcher in the '83. Possibly the only Times editor who grew up in the area where I went to sixth form college!

If this is the case then economy is fucked. Looked at barista wages in London recently. They're north of NMW, a good thing but it keeps CPI/ interest rates sticky. As a soon to be pensioner with no mortgage I like this. On every other level it sucks especially for the young, housing, + their future.

Prior briefings (obviously need to check budget text details for veracity) suggested the possibility of accruing the payments which then attracts interest for payment post either death or sale. Both these possibilities answers the post.

Stop beating about the damn bush! Negotiate Rejoin then put it to a referendum. Informed, (not like the last vote) and democratic. Succeed and you get Dublin Convention as a bonus!

Given they reportedly wrote it, that's not surprising.
