That said, other cities have excellent coverage in private-sector apps like Citymapper and Transit. The latter was great for Dublin until recently.

While I know nothing of the specifics, the likelihood is this was procured, with a long framework, and design had no part in the conversation. Tech-led procurement constantly fails us.
Ireland has government design principles to help avoid disasters like this. But awareness and resourcing is dire.

Interesting to see the word “their” in quotes. Street we’re moving to is really short of kerbside space, while the next street has loads. Be cool to open up what’s meant by “their”.

And the vans too conspicuous, and the Google maps alerts too effective. The whole system needs to be replaced. The idea that drivers must know they are being surveilled undermines the whole objective.
In Ireland, the law effectively says speed limits only apply when you can see a bug stripey van.

From what I’ve heard it’s all cash transactions and no receipts too. A complete racket.
