I’m a Civil Servant, with a keen interest in many things including computers, data, law, digital preservation and archives. You’ll find me at The National Archives, helping to look after the digital archive, web archive, legislation.gov.uk etc.
This self published book by Hal Prince is excellent. Highly recommended if you have an interest in this kind of thing.

On my way to #ukgc25! If you’re going too and you’re interested in data, archives, digital preservation, digital humanities, vintage computers, law and legislation, Parliament, the courts, maths, functional programming, large language models, or surviving in the civil service, I’d love to chat!

Statutory Interpretation is more difficult, for example - for which we have Bennion. I was utterly baffled when I first read this (in a previous edition) 15 years ago.

By the by there are many things far more difficult to understand than 'gradient descent' or 'convolutional neural networks' - it’s just most people are unfamiliar with these methods. Meanwhile, here’s my latest AI reading. I’m enjoying the learning that goes along with the AI revolution (and hype!)

Plus there’s the Snettisham RSPB reserve, which is quite a big plus!

Achievement unlocked - I’ve just finished walking the new coast path route from Shepherds Port (Snettisham Beach) to King’s Lynn. Atmospheric today!

I’m on my way up to King’s Lynn. There is something truly magical about East Anglia this time of year.

Twenty years ago the then PMDU produced things like this (now at TNA). I’m privileged to have listened to Sir Michael Barber talk through this exact report, and how he used it with the then Chancellor, each month. Huge amount of analysis and thought underneath an ostensibly simple one page report.
