I'd announced it each time, but it transpired they couldn't understand my accent and thought I was saying "Chrissy T" or something like that, and getting frustrated when they couldn't find that on the Internet. I hope they figured it out and found him eventually.

I sometimes agonise when putting shows together or just listening to music generally that I lean too hard on old favourites. But of course it's the fact I've had relationships with artists like Chris T-T, Pulp or the Hidden Cameras for so long that makes nights like tonight so valuable and precious.

I deliberately didn't do any homework for this by revisiting the songs. Anything I'd missed or forgotten would be fresh, and a bonus. Plus I knew how good Chris is at putting his songs across live. I'd somehow forgotten his knack for leaning into chaos and making it a strength when needed!

Happy to report, as I loosen my belt, that the absolute champ on the adjacent table not only completed his triple-carb challenge, but rounded it off by making a chip wrap using the remaining part of the naan. Life's not a competition... but we have our winner today.
