This happened in my university. In the 70’s Computing Services had all the power, with their mainframe. In the 80’s academics bought early personal computers. The 90’s brought interconnection and eventually the internet. The IT department regained control by facilitating access to the outside.

It's as if they were hired under a scheme to diversify the system by ensuring equal opportunity to young blond underqualified women to make it more inclusive. We could call it DEI.

Half the the UK didn't vote for Brexit. The electorate is 70% of the population, the turnout was 72%, and of that 52% voted yes, that's 26% of the population, and in an advisory referendum. Yet apparently that was a mandate for the biggest self inflicted damage in a century.

I see no difference between Trump's ludicrous words over Greenland and the Canal, and Putin's ridiculous defence of his naked aggression towards Ukraine. Except that Greenland is in the same military alliance as the USA.

My sister died of polio, before I was born, and only a few years before the first vaccine. My father, who had brought her up almost alone, never really recovered from her loss. I try to carry her memory.

The ignorance and stupidity of anti vaxx is boundless.
