That’s why Americans are seeking asylum in Venezuela, right?

Socialism is why Venezuela is a failed state.

If it’s biblical, then God clearly doesn’t want Americans drinking OJ, or else there wouldn’t be insects spreading bacteria decimating Florida orange groves.

I agree, demographics & energy costs impact inflation; they’re key inputs to potential GDP

I don’t have good Japanese data, but I do know they have similar demographics to China, and yet 🇯🇵 is starting to hit their inflation target.

The US data shows income’s impact on inflation pretty clearly.

Maybe US exports are up more in March in the counterfactual situation in which Trump didn’t start a pointless trade war, but the data doesn’t show a meaningful boycott of the US (yet).

Thanks to USA’s generous drug pricing, what we pay (for lack of a single payer system to negotiate) has little to do with costs.
Tariffs are a blunt tool, but unlike other MAGA grievances, there are real issues with US Big Pharma avoiding US taxes by profit shifting to Ireland, PR, etc.

For all the talk of a BRICS replacement of the USD there is no appetite for nations to allow their currency appreciate against the USD.

Those who aren’t actively seeking employment could fill the gap, but I doubt new jobs are created in the auto industry anyway.
That’d require fresh subsidies, and Trump already earmarked tariff revenue to replacing the income tax (lol).
