Ideological irregular. Former country lawyer, Chairborne Infantryman, teacher, farm hand, etc. ABD (neoliberalism’s infestation of adult ed) with much of it drafted and personal projects aplenty. Auburn, Alabama mostly. Usual disclaimers. juntogunto.com
… people quoted and their seemingly conventional ‘wisdom’ might be right. However, it seems to me that they’re just as likely to be relying on their priors, stuck on being safe, etc. More importantly, those reading this who simply see these quoted sources as ‘experts’ might decide there’s no hope.

I’m not aware that any of the actual scholars have much background in their research or experience as to electoral politics, applied analysis of historical trends or developments, etc. In my way of seeing this, it’s half-baked, dialed in, file the copy to fill the pages … type work. Sure, these …

… from Roanoke. Older than me. Wound up at Athens State for I believe most, if not entire, career. I’ve often felt 🤷🏻‍♂️ in reading many of his takes. Dr. Lori Owens from JSU is last source Cason quoted. Basically, I’d question if any of these people offer all that much insight. Seems conventional.

Regarding Doug’s chances, Mike Cason published quotes from 2 profs and 🤡 “Alabama's leading political columnist” Steve Flowers 🤡. Put me down as finding all their thoughts somewhat shaky. Flowers is Flowers. ALEC ties, etc. I don’t know Dr. Jess Brown even though he’s … www.al.com/politics/202...
Doug Jones ‘got clobbered’ by Tuberville in 2020: Could a rematch for Alabama governor be different?
Before Jones beat Roy Moore in 2017, the last Democrat to win statewide office was Lucy Baxley in a 2008 PSC race.

… candidate someone they’re not. Authenticity matters. But some sauce and sizzle, an occasional dose of directed white hot rage as well, would be welcomed. And again, the usual suspect centristy consultants and pollsters should be avoided like the plague. They burn through money and regularly lose.

Among what worries me the most is how the ADP under the ‘leadership’ of Randy Kelley-Joe Reed will hinder Doug. I don’t doubt there will be hindrances. It’s just a question of how much, the methods, etc. And will Doug be as assertive, nimble, punchy … as I’d want. I never believe you try to make a …

And it’s possible Doug could pull it off. LOTS of time for Trump to continue to crater. Tommy is incredibly stupid, is supposedly quite lazy, appears to have an obvious residency barrier, etc. Some 💰 Big Mules 💰 surely DREAD Tommy as our Guvnah. And they clearly should. He and his would be horrible.

… US Senator. Doug will and should pound away on this issue. Furthermore, even in Alabama the trend is definitely against Trump and reactionary, dumb politics like Tommy offers. I’m NOT predicting Doug will win. What I can imagine is close race, especially if Doug punches effectively, is smart, etc.

… centristy consultant crap and chickenshit, mealy-mouthed, technocratic … slop. As always, ‘punch up populism’ holds promise. As for her “wants to get blown out again” remark, there’s first the problem Tommy clearly has with residency requirements to serve as Alabama’s Guv which didn’t apply for …

‘Comrade’ Doug is, of course, ridiculous. Would that Doug were even just a little pink. At best, and I desperately hope he’ll at least lean into this, he’s possibly a Neo-Brandesian embracing antitrust approaches. Might get some ‘New Deal’ impulses from him, especially if he’s smart and avoids the …

I’d earlier written “there’s not one damn thing wrong with this class.” As before, analysis is from brief breezing through. Now I’m seeing a good bit that looks quite promising. From my perspective, these students are likely getting exactly what a college education should offer. 1819 is being 1819.

Yup, they’re there to rile up a segment of the citizenry, push enough politicians into reactionary positions, etc. And always remember, we really don’t know who is funding this agitprop - as these unknown donors presumably pocket tax deductions for indoctrination. Let’s keep trying to ID the donors.
