I'm happy to be called a "sensible centrist" and I'm fed up with politics as angry, show business. I've switched off the news and every few hours, come on something like this to see if the world is still mad.

Reform in action are very disappointing. They are a football team with no defence.

This is such a depressing thread. Intelligent, informed folk expending so much nervous energy on the knock on effects of some non-fatal mistakes and misjudgments, amplified ridiculously by opposition politicians, their paymasters and their media, in their own interests.

Allister Heath’s observations are a thing of psychedelic wonder. My Telegraph reading friends angrily go on the journey with him, without enjoying the ride.

True. But the press and social media are largely in the hands of wealthy people with a self-interested commercial/political agenda. We must all take responsibility to challenge those who ask for our votes, and only vote for candidates who, wherever they are on the spectrum are clear on their ethics.

Yes. For me, it's a rule that should be expected of all parties at all times.

Shouldn’t we ensure when placing private sector contracts, that the company concerned does not get into a position where it pulls the strings? I realise that this is too late in some cases.

I would hope that all messaging should assume that it gets read out on the news - and also remember the dictum, imagine your message read out in court by a judge.

Is it true that under a Reform government, if a single parent with 3 children gets made redundant, they would have their child benefit cut?

Many weren't even MPs 2 years ago. If you were having a heart operation, would you be happy with a surgeon who only qualified as a doctor 2 years ago?
