Female authors seem to be able to write male characters much better than male authors write female characters. It’s a broad generalisation, but it seems to be true on average.

What do other people think? I wonder if it’s just my perception.

Why does every online “Hot Take” feel the same? What is it with online discourse and the obsession with controversy, hot takes and contrarianism?

It speaks to a broader problem in our societies and the algorithms that rule our digital lives.

Currently watching Neon Genesis Evangelion and I can’t believe how good it is. Peak sci-fi.

If only writing a book was anything like it sounds in books.

The tragedy of reading fantasy is that real life can never live up to it. What do you mean my life can’t be a fun medieval adventure with a group of lovable outcasts?

I hate it when people see an artist’s visionary work and comment that they must have been high on drugs to achieve it. It’s frankly insulting. It says more about the people who make the comments and their inability to make something great.

It would be so nice if you could just write books and not have to worry about promoting them and promoting yourself and promoting your website and promoting your social media and promoting and promoting and promoting and—

Being a writer with imposter syndrome is great. You start with one sentence and end up with none.

Fuck it. I’m going all in on my romantasy idea. The ultimate enemies to lovers, the love triangle to end all love triangles, a romantasy book series to put all others to shame. Lets go ☀️ 🌙

David Lynch has passed away and my heart is broken. We have lost not just one of our greatest artists, but also one of the best people to ever walk this earth. Our world is an emptier and sadder place without him 💔

If you want to be a prolific and published writer you can’t sit around waiting for inspiration. If the words don’t come to you naturally you need to go them yourself, by force if you need to.

Mad respect for people who can read more than 100 books per year. I wish I could be like you. That’s no joke.

I just had a really cool romantasy book idea, but I have no experience in this subgenre. I’m afraid that I wouldn’t do the idea and the genre any justice.

🟥 “When the Blood Rain falls, we know it’s safe to go out because They aren’t hunting us. They’re busy consuming us. It’s when it stops that we need to worry. That’s when we have to hide.” 🟥

Reading fantastic books is immensely inspirational as a writer, but sometimes you need to read bad books too. Nothing teaches you how write better than seeing someone’s atrocious prose.

My reading hot take is that some people don’t like reading. They like the aesthetic of books and being readers.

I call myself a writer, but really I’m just a professional daydreamer with delusions of grandeur.

Every day I am grateful that books exist. That there is little paper thing to where I can escape to and learn things from and use to grow as a person. Books have been with us for millennia and we still take them for granted.

Watched Nosferatu and I can’t stop thinking about it. There’s so many things about it that are absolutely amazing, from the cinematography to the score, but what sticks the most to me is this lingering feeling of beauty and tragedy that is impossible to explain. Masterpiece.

Me, picking my next book to read: “Something short and fun.”

Also me: “Ooh, a 900-page fantasy epic!”

I almost can’t believe it but my master thesis has been published in a scientific magazine 🎉

Not the kind of publishing I’ve always dreamed of (publishing a novel being my actual dream) but I’ll take what I can get 😅

Just finished Dark Age (Red Rising 5) and my heart is broken. This is the darkest thing I’ve ever read. Maybe too dark, to be honest.

The book is great but there’s just no winning for the characters. It’s just loss after loss. I’m hoping Lightbringer will be true to its title.
