The first voting rights advocate to adopt the hunger strike died #onthisday. In 1909, Marion Wallace-Dunlop demanded to be categorized a political prisoner. Her request denied, she went on a hunger strike and was later freed. Activists collectively applied the tactic. #votingrights #collectiveaction

On this day in 1968, CIA-funded Cuban exiles firebombed the offices of The Evergreen Review, outraged at the cover featuring Che. No one was hurt, and the next month Evergreen’s issue 58 featured a “Who’s Who in Che’s Diary” along with pages from the diary itself. @evergreenreview.bsky.social
