Well if the Venezuelan government pretended it never happened then they would not have to respond or get into a conflict with the US that could escalate. But I guess we'll see what their official position is

Venezuela was one of the richest countries in Latin America and now it is a failed state that squandered their oil wealth that they were way too dependent on. There is a reason people are fleeing it. Sanctions have hurt their economy but it's not the reason they are in this mess

I personally disapprove. I still think it doesn't make sense to think it is AI or think the Venezuelan ministry of communications is correct

I am more inclined to believe people I have talked to that have fled the country than left wingers on bluesky about this. Regardless, doesn't mean Trump admin is right or sane to do this.

I think there is more reason to believe them, especially when they show video of an explosion that would be very easy for the military to do, then the people in charge of propaganda for a dictatorship that just rigged their election. That doesnt mean Trump admin narrative on drugs makes any sense

Because there is some semblance of reality that officials at the Pentagon usually adhere to and it would be unusual for them to make shit up to this degree whereas it is the job of the people in charge of propaganda in the Venezuelan government to constantly lie about everything
