Trying to keep sane amidst the madness
My cynical take is that some judges have finally realised that they won't go down well in history if they are aligned to Orange.

Chris Minns and Anthony Albanese have been such disappointments.

36% continues to approve of Orange is what shocks me the most.

Rice paper roll ingredients put out on a table which people make themselves. Protein are prawns, fried tofu and if you can be bothered pork meat balls. Vegan, pescatarians, health nuts, carnivores all happy. But seriously, I'd just hide in the shed with a G&T.

non-Australians are already terrified of our snakes, spiders and sharks. Let's not add birds to the list.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad. The thing that riles me is that when you talk about covid deaths and illnesses, people discount it if it affects the elderly. "Oh, they were old anyway" is the excuse. Says a lot about our society that the elderly are so disposable.

They changed a major plot point which impacted a key relationship in the book. Unless this is somehow explained in the sequel, I found it to be disappointing (and unnecessary).

I found it to be very clever. Not as poignant as her previous film, Past Lives, but smart filmmaking nevertheless.

Have to admit that I've come to admire Pence. One of the very few high profile people willing to speak up. Where are Bush, Romney et al?

Check the White House loos quick. Fort Knox gold being melted as we speak to make thrones for Orange to take a dump.

Lots of executives at Paramount sweating at the moment.

Lunacy.

I hope there is a record kept of all the people who bent the knee to him because one day when they seek to whitewash their behaviour, they should be held to account.

LNP doing an excellent job profiling these dinosaurs and their disdain for the electorate, ensuring they stay out of government for a long time.

Australia's list: 1. sending thoughts and prayers; 2. distinguishing lethal from non-lethal parts on weapons used to kills Palestinians; 3. sending thoughts, prayers and now strong concern; 4. we'll act when others act; 5. meet with zionists to explore how we can send more thoughts and prayers

And they managed to put out the statement with not a skerrick of self-reflection.

What a world where the only high profile people standing up to Trump in America are the satirists.
July 28, 2025 at 8:10 AM
Then why are you approving more fossil fuel projects and fighting the Torres Strait Islanders in court? We see the hypocrisy. Don't think that your majority was because we supported you. We held our noses because Dutton was more venal but we won't be forgetting at the next election.

Louise, looks like you've opened a can of worms! Joking aside, what angers me is not people who don't follow issues closely being unaware and not acting, it's those in power who KNEW things were wrong, refused to act and now, faced with backlash are speaking up. How can we ever trust them again?
July 27, 2025 at 8:18 AM
Well done CBS for giving all the comedians and satirists enough material to mock it into oblivion.
July 27, 2025 at 2:01 AM
You had 2 years to speak up as the evidence of genocide mounted. Why only now?
July 25, 2025 at 7:31 AM
It seems to me that some 37% of people in the US are implacably insane or cruel.
July 25, 2025 at 7:29 AM
So unspeakable that Starmer has spent his time outlawing groups that support Palestine and authorising the police to arrest the elderly protesting genocide.
