Well, they ought to be in trouble. They won in '24 based on a promise to make things affordable, and since coming into power, they've made the economy worse. The heck of it is that just leaving things alone (no tariffs, a humane immigration policy) would have had the economy roaring.

Well, he also has salient gifts; he's a mixed bag. Trump, by contrast, has no redeeming qualities.
December 13, 2025 at 12:07 PM
In case people wondered how far "out there" he is, he blames immigration on corporations pushing diversity. We are run by cruel morons (who are almost entirely white; go figure). But we can partially fix this within a year.

I suspect that very few people voted for T because of health care. But I don't know that even these dismal (for T) polls capture the dismay and even rage that would arise from ending ACA subsidies. I remain surprised that there is not more urgency among GOP in Congress.

I was worried about the possibility of Santa being detained by ICE. But maybe he's Ok, 'cause he's white? Kind of like the immigrants Trump seeks from Scandinavian nations.

What does it say about the US that we could elect this guy -- twice -- but fail to elect even once his equally able (sorry for the wimpy word) and much more morally commendable wife? I will go to my grave astonished at the reasons people gave for not supporting Hillary.
December 13, 2025 at 2:32 AM
If the guy's right, and T has only a few more months to live, he'll likely deteriorate faster than almost anyone is up to dealing with. I can't figure out whether this would be good or bad news. (Do we really want this vacuum?) But I am now that much angrier about people voting for him.
December 13, 2025 at 2:20 AM
OK, 'fess up: how many of you "defrauded investors" voted for Trump? Did you not realize how venal he is? Are you going to hang in there with T and the servile GOP?
December 13, 2025 at 2:11 AM
31 % approval of T's economic (mis)management seems high to me. But let's see what happens when folks see their health insurance premiums go through the roof.

I have reached the point with Trump when I am relieved that at least he is fighting with Russia. Take your time, Donnie; spend all that energy and anger on frustrating Putin. (How long till the '28 election?)
December 13, 2025 at 1:41 AM
I'm not sure the direction of this is "up". Is the statement, "Facts are stubborn things" just an opinion now? I'm still pulling for a (more) reality-based world, against Trump's Bizarro world.
December 13, 2025 at 1:35 AM
Two principles at work here, one laudable, the other abominable. The servant nun is living the Catholic Church's commitment to solidarity with all humanity, especially the poor and vulnerable. The Trump administration, by contrast, equates kindness with weakness. Catholics, defend the good one.
December 13, 2025 at 1:10 AM
If I were in a photo with Trump, I'd probably want my face obscured, too. Thanks to those who are making things uncomfortable for Trump and for those covering things up to prevent his accountability.
December 12, 2025 at 11:55 PM
There is something sadly, oddly funny about Mr. Lutnick griping about letting in "below-average" immigrants. He is the poster child (I admit that there are others) for a below-average cabinet.
December 11, 2025 at 2:55 PM
Do you know how often the party out of power has succeeded with the issue that prompted their shutdown? NEVER. I am tired of people blaming Democrats for not doing something that they don't have the power to do. Want to change things? Get involved. Don't just gripe from outside.
December 11, 2025 at 2:50 PM
That GOP headache should have started a lot earlier. And you know who has a far bigger headache? The majority in this nation who are livid about attempts to kneecap the ACA. And that headache will worsen with every monthly insurance bill.
December 11, 2025 at 2:42 PM
One depressing thing about Trump is the (small) size of the group that favors keeping politics out of things like national parks. Just the existence of this dispute, utterly unnecessary and shameful, should be politically fatal. At least there are laws, but come on, people!
December 11, 2025 at 2:38 PM
No warrant or claimed offense. Slammed against a door, choked. Detained an hour in a car, pressured to be photographed. Detained 2 hours in holding place; during all that time, not allowed to prove citizenship. Q: Isn't this assault and kidnapping? Could Mpls police arrest THEM?
December 11, 2025 at 6:01 AM
Do you mind if I agree with both of you? Yes, TX is far more Red than NYC. But we've been hearing from young people that they are tired with "safe", older folks (gee, like me). Crockett gives them a chance to be heard. Can she inspire many new, young Democratic voters? If so, I'll step aside.
December 11, 2025 at 5:49 AM
Mixed feelings on whether Rep. Crockett should run. But I don't have mixed feelings about HER: I am a fan. Can we at least admit that the presumed problems someone this accomplished might have in this election are due to the TX electorate? The RW folks setting a bad example are just bomb throwers.

It is hard for me not to see MAGA and, frankly, every person who voted for Trump in '24 as our enemy. Per Prof. Heather Cox Richardson, I think, among people who got their news from legacy media, Harris won by 17 %. How is ignorance and animus, which made T possible, the fault of ALL of us?
December 11, 2025 at 1:39 AM
If you were a songwriter and Ms. Ronstadt decided to cover a song you wrote, you'd feel like you'd died and gone to heaven.
December 10, 2025 at 7:16 PM
Hey, Ms. Burns, where I can I buy my "holiday presidents"? I'm ready to pay good money for a new one.
December 9, 2025 at 11:51 PM
I remain astonished that many in MAGA, who must be aware that Trump is lying about grocery prices, don't take the next step -- i.e., asking, If Trump is lying to us about this, what else might he be lying about? In fact, that might be an effective election tactic for '26; ask the Q, over and over.
