In other news, I've just finished another page for my updated/overhauled Lovecraft book. More about that later. Also rearranged some of the typesetting which means I now need to fill the resulting space with more illos. I'm good at creating additional work for myself...

A moment of alarm when I thought that Google had finally killed the SmartTube app for Android TV. (SmartTube = ad-free YT viewing, etc.) Turns out the developer had disabled it due to a compromised digital signature. I've just deleted the old one and installed the update.

Every time I see a picture of Cloudbase I remember the Attack on Cloudbase episode in which the Mysterons attack in a squadron of flying saucers, destroying the place and everyone in it. Everyone! Traumatic stuff for a six-year-old.

MORGIANA (Juraj Herz, 1972). Loved this vivid Czech Gothic drama - a tale of two sisters involving jealousy, greed, poisoning, lavish costumes and a striking Siamese cat. The hair and make-up are gloriously over the top, especially for Viktoria, the evil one in this twisted scenario. #FilmSky

⚔️ Thanks so much to @neilsnowdon.bsky.social and @arrowvideo.bsky.social for asking me to contribute to this incredible looking package.
Behold, the Sword of Power! Excalibur! For anyone waiting for things from me, this is why: my brain has been consumed by John Boorman and Excalibur, both of them dear to my heart. The restoration is stunning, and finally presents the film in the right aspect ratio on home video... 🧵1/8

Sad to hear that Andrew Lauder has died. Such an important figure in the British music industry. He signed/released many fantastic bands: Hawkwind, High Tide, Can, Amon Duul II, Dr Feelgood, Buzzcocks, Stranglers etc. And he gave me a great interview for Days Of The Underground.

William Hope Hodgson, if he did but know it, confirming once more the intersection between cosmic sounds and cosmic horror. (From "The Hog", Weird Tales, January 1947. Story would have been written some time between 1910 and 1914.)

DJ Food's latest auction dive has turned up a Futurama 1979 poster and badge among the usual psychedelia. I don't have many missed-gig regrets but I've always regretted not making the effort to get to this event. Look at the line-up!

Why not follow it up by immersing yourself in the film and soundtrack by Jóhann Jóhannsson & Yair Elazar Glotman?
