Interest in natural history. Birder since teens. Monitor Peregrine sites in association with LPP incl. Sutton, and Morden which I helped to establish in 2015.
Sutton Peregrines. The adult female was feeding on a Feral Pigeon on the High Street building this morning, while the adult male was perched nearby. His crop looks quite full too! #londonbirds #birds

Sutton Peregrines. I'd not seen the adult female since 17/11, so it was good to see her on camera earlier this morning, then both adults together on the building they use in the High Street. I last saw the juvenile on 18/11, perched on the east side of Quadrant House. #londonbirds #birds

4/4. The video of the Magpie finding the prey remains. It drops them at first, but does return at the end of the clip.

3/4. Also today, the juvenile male had been feeding on something which he left on the rail as he moved to the wall, and after which a Magpie found.

2/4. he was clearly irritated by them and eventually flew off with his prey back towards Quadrant House. The Crows didn't follow him, and one found a few scraps of food that had been left where he had been feeding. #londonbirds #birds

Sutton Peregrines. 1/4. This morning, on the building they use in the High Street, the adult male was feeding but occasionally alarm calling at the same time. Three Carrion Crows were quite close to him, and while they didn't attempt to get close enough to steal his food,

Garden birding. When Jackdaws visit they tend to come as a pair, but there were 3 together this morning. Some Ring-necked Parakeets are also in the photos). Also, the male Blackbird is still around. #londonbirds #birds

Sutton Peregrines. Some photos of the juvenile male perched on the west side of Quadrant House during the rain this afternoon. #londonbirds #birds

Garden birding. What I presume is the same Blackbird that I saw two days ago spent quite a while in the garden today, often just standing and listening for potential prey. The fallen leaves will likely be helping him in this respect. #londonbirds #birds

Garden birding. Quite a surprise to see a Goldcrest in the garden this morning - and there may have been two! I can't recall the last time I saw one here. #londonbirds #birds

Garden birding. My second garden Blackbird this month visited early this afternoon, this one with a noticeably more yellow beak than the last. He found a nice worm to eat too! #londonbirds #birds

2/2. Video of the courtship display.
November 9, 2025 at 6:51 PM
Sutton Peregrines. 1/2. I wasn't expecting to see the adult female and the juvenile male having a courtship display, as happened this afternoon, but I suppose it's all part of growing up! Both adults continue to accept his presence, at least for now. #londonwildlife #birds

Garden wildlife. I found 3 different Zoropsis spinimanas tonight. The regular one inside the shed window, another briefly on the top of the shed door before it disappeared inside, and one near the front door lamp, again in the same position as I saw one on 05/11. @britishspiders.bsky.social

2/3. More Segestria florentinas. All 8 are shown in 1/3 and 2/3.

Garden wildlife. 1/3. I only managed to find 8 Segestria florentinas last night, all in the usual places. There is a bonus video of the one living behind the side gate hinge support feeding on something (in 3/3), which was taken a short while after the first photo of it.

4/4. Screenshots of the juvenile relieving his Dad of the prey.

3/4. Then the adult male re-appeared and started to pluck the prey while the juvenile could be heard nearby. The juvenile then makes a lunge for the prey and takes it from his Dad, who was a little reluctant to release it. The juvenile then files off with it. Screenshots in 4/4. #londonbirds #birds

Sutton Peregrines. 1/4. The action in this first video clip is very quick, and I wasn't sure what I was seeing at first until I watched it in slow motion. It shows the adult male with prey and the juvenile male trying to take it, then both disappearing over the wall! Screenshots in 2/4.

Garden birding. The highlight today was this male Blackbird, the first in the garden since 29 July, and prior to that it was one on 8 May. I suspect this was a bird passing through on migration, though I saw him several times, and he also had a bath, so maybe he'll stay. #londonbirds #birds

Garden birding. A female Great Spotted Woodpecker visiting the feeders this morning, and a few House Sparrows (and the occasional Goldfinch) enjoying a drink/bath in one of the bird baths. #londonbirds #birds
