My grandma slept with a hot water bottle in her bed because it was so cold in the house. One of the daily chores was to start the wood stove which her father or brothers would do before sunrise.
She was beyond excited to get an electric fan for her 16th birthday to cool her in the summer

Goal is to run out the clock, raise the salience of particular issues, and extract what we can here and there. Dems caved too early, but I don’t think an outcome that satisfied everyone was possible given the circumstances

I don’t think a lot of people really understand how insane certain parts of the new right are becoming about gender. It’s just not mainstream knowledge at all and media elites keep treating it like a little fad

I do think (especially men) on the conservative side are collectively marching down a path of intense radicalism. Good news is most women fucking hate that shit (why they voted Spanberger by 55 pp) and I think a critical majority of men also kinda don’t like it.

I talked to a conservative around my age (early 20s) and I found three underlying themes to his political ideology.
1. Deep anxiety at the growing economic independence and power of women.
2. Anger and frustration at economic problems like housing.
3. A need for a more hierarchical social order-

Next Dem Administration needs to set up a commission that interviews as many people who were detained as possible as well as documenting every single abuse that has happened.
We aren’t going to be able to prosecute everything but we can be damn sure to make sure what happened is never forgotten

I genuinely think Dems are going to have a 30-40% shot at taking down Roger Marshall in KS with the environment that’s brewing.
At the very least I expect the Governor’s Office to stay blue and for the GOP to lose about a dozen house seats

Yeah their information environment is absolutely cooked and it seems they more or less are totally insulated from basic political feedback.

GOP seems convinced they are not going to eat any of the consequences of this
To me this is one of the dumbest political assessments of modern American history. Real risks this plunges us into recession by Christmas plus all the other Federal programs that will break down with SNAP

Venezuela is the size of the Midwest and home to about 30 million people. It is insane for anyone to compare this to Panama!

They need to lose ‘26, ‘28, ‘30, ‘32 before they finally get the message
Might even have to lose ‘36 to get the message solidified

GOP ads are going to blast Mamdani for six months during the midterms and then they are going to act surprised (or Trump decries fraud) when they lose both Houses of Congress

Perhaps this is too optimistic at this point but I do not think a movement as vehemently racist as groypers can find wide political success in this country.
Trump 2.0 won over a lot of conservative immigrants/minorities and I don’t know how that coalition survives if one part of it is so hostile -
