High school positive psychology teacher looking for the latest psychological research, historical and political knowledge, and creative wit.
They did this in our Denver suburb school district. It was done without teacher input because we have “business partnerships” and the district admin pulls crap like this all the time. Hopefully our new school board will keep better tabs.

What does this even mean? Is she trying to sound intelligent by questioning the nature of linguistics of the word? Or just trying to figure out a way to say child rape is somehow acceptable?

It must have been the wrong kind of water. Or cup. Or straw. Or…. Obviously, your beverage game needs to level up 😂

High school teacher here, and I cheer on this move. The one problem you might run into is that some kids with 504s or IEPs might have access to computers written in their plans so they can task notes. Obviously providing notes is a workaround.

Is there any way a judge would allow this (assuming it would be challenged in court)? Supreme Court I have little faith in. But I guess that is where it would probably end up?

I don”t think he needs to apologize for anything on that list. I think he needs to apologize for things that he does and thinks that are not on that list.

My dad’s small grocery store was leveled, only the freezer and safe remained. My grandparents’ neighborhood looked like a war zone. I was 5 when it happened.

Right. I am just recognizing that, in this case, sh*t rolls uphill and you get students that aren’t held accountable on this stuff. And our goal is to try to help get students the skills they need for that next level, and, many times, we fail in that goal.

The demands on HS teachers is incredibly unrealistic now. And the only realistic way, really, to end this would be to only have students do stuff in class with no tech exposure. And some teachers do this. But we are also fighting parents and they are clueless.

High school teacher here and also AP teacher. We are adjusting to doing more in-class writings and using AI to check for AI usage. The issue is that your top-tier students should have the skills, it’s the middle that is suffering from this.

And, depending on the district or teacher, it will vary.

I wonder when costs will be less important to getting kids help. Anecdotally, I have seen great strides in student learning as they have addressed mental health issues, such as social anxiety, depression, and home life issues.

It would appear that they are too stupid to be completely authoritarian by trying to manipulate companies to “side” with them for weeding out dissenters of the admin. It would appear that are smart enough to make $ off the crash. But too stupid to understand the effects and how to negotiate.

Also, we live in a capitalist country, so if protestors are paid, that is also on par 🤷‍♂️😁

Also, GLP-1s have other benefits, they’re finding. They have helped my wife’s chronic migraines. That was the whole reason why her doctor prescribed them to her, not weight loss.

Dumb question, do you have to be a professor to sign?

Maybe they should also be showing dying mothers in hospitals that refuse medical care for women with miscarriages and the like. I’ve been told many times by conservative parents that I should be more “balanced” when discussing certain issues in the classroom. Think they’d agree with this?

Ouchie. I don’t have kids, but working with high school kids, one has similar moments.

It’s flabbergasts me that we have to have this conversation.

Also, let’s just hypothesize that yes, ASD is increasing in numbers. So it’s vaccines and absolutely nothing else? Cognitive biases at their worst.

Awesome! Tomorrow, I’m bringing 70 of my AP Psych students from down the road and I’m suggesting one of the symposia about LGBTIQ wellness.

I teach high school history and different psychology classes. I don’t pull punches. I’ll say something is just flat out stupid. Or I’ll even use the word bullshit. No need to be polite, just accurate 😆

I would assume that the lawyer minions for this administration knew that about the puberty blockers but didn’t care….

When I see a conspiracy theory, sometimes they are so outlandish that they are entertaining to read. This is just boring.

So, I’ve seen some other stuff like this in recent years. My wife wonders if it’s the potency of the weed. She grew up when it wasn’t legal and it was weak. She says the new stuff messes her up.
