This is the oldest drawing I found of John versus his most recent ref. The design (And my color choices) have improved a lot since then!

(One must take into account that sounds tend to be reused across different soundtracks and, sometimes, even different films)

This is indeed a hard one, as the sound fragment was specifically made for that short!

However, the closest thing I found is the main District 9 theme (From 0:00 to 1:50)

The first thing that comes to my mind with that context is a flying dutchman type of story.

A ship whose crew ascended but their ship could/did not jump with them (Technical/existential issues if the ship's sentient) so it drifts in pristine or extremely deteriorated condition, but still funcioning
