Forces. Municipalities are supposed to have control of these things.

Houston government is dangerous.

Don't even give the idea air time.

Do better.

Ah the usual tow the line.

It's insanely inefficient and, just so happens, the same turbines that run on hydrogen can also run on natural gas - which is what they will do in Germany most of the time.
February 6, 2025 at 10:38 PM
Ah yeah, the green hydrogen waste of time.

I ate at the one in Truro when it opened, got food poisoning. Haven't been back. 😂

Should also raise taxes 25% on all American owned property

Conservatives (PC, provincial) have already sold off the best wind areas and off-shore to foreign benefit.

Federally? Different matter, but won't change our course provincally.

Discussion is absolutely critical to understanding and information exchange.

So far I've been unconvinced that industrial solar and wind works and is a good idea when compared to other sources. I'm more than willing to be open to that idea, but...

Opinions are fine, but being inflexible and unwilling to change them based on information is not a great way to go about things.

I used to support these projects but then I learned, learned a lot. They are nothing but virtue signaling and money makers.
January 8, 2025 at 2:41 PM
Solar on every single home and business? Absolutely. Offset use at the source. Distributed like this makes complete sense.

What I have a problem with is spending on ineffective power sources in an industrial setting. If we're going to do that we should select the best option.
January 8, 2025 at 2:39 PM
I have a problem with wind and solar energy as an industrial power generation source because it is unreliable and requires so many checks and balances, expensive ones. Hydro has it's issues but it's also labeled as renewable - at least it's steady.

Let's go right to the source, Ontario power stats.

This is Ontario, right now, with all it's wind:

The highest I could find (quick check), was about 14% of their energy coming from wind.
January 8, 2025 at 2:33 PM
They are by definition. Solar only works during the day (surprise :D ), subject to weather patterns.

Wind only works when there's wind (also a surprise!), and requires a certain low and high cut offs.

Battery back up? Costly.. very, very costly.

Nuclear waste is incredibly easy to store, and safely. It has been for the 60+ years it's been around and with technology advancements even safer. Much of it can be reused and the harm reduced further.

We could even use old deep oil wells to store it underground where it will never cause harm.
January 8, 2025 at 2:31 PM
No, it's not. Almost all of those projects are to generate 'green' hydrogen to be sold off to Germany. We are getting next to no benefit out of them.
January 8, 2025 at 2:28 PM
Almost all of this will be for 'green' hydrogen exported to (primarily) Germany. Germany won't get much use out of it, but it just so happens those generators can also run of of natural gas..
January 8, 2025 at 2:28 PM
Now consider the one in Wentworth (for "Green" hydrogen). I believe it's at least twice as many (for some reason 400 stick in my mind, but I'm not at home to verify). Stretching from Nuttby to Foley Lake, including through critical moose habitat.

And that's one of several projects, plus off shore.

This is the start of (I don't think it's complete or current) the project to feed the paper mill. The roads and dots to the left of Pirate Harbour. I think that project is 120ish turbines.
January 8, 2025 at 2:24 PM
Let's not confuse windmills with industrial wind turbines. Windmills like the idyllic Dutch ones were small and in place to do a purpose.

Industrial ones are behemoths, the current crop are larger than any building in the province. Proposed ones even bigger.

Nuclear energy has the least deaths per energy unit produced, and that's including accidents.

It is absolutely the greenest, most stable energy we have access to.

I encourage you to look through this map and see what does the heavy lifting. Hydro and nuclear
