I’m going to pretend Griff III is pronounced “Griffey”

He and Raskin are my representation. I always thought he was ok but he has really met the moment these past 11 months in ways I never expected.

I'll take Kyle Reis vs. The World

Yeah, of all the places to go, this one feels the worst. But also, good for her. She'll kill it and we were lucky as hell to have her covering the Cardinals for so long.

That turkey wasn’t carved, it was assaulted by a meth-addled badger.

At the time: waiting in the dining room
Now: Hour 3 of sleeping off tons of turkey

Crusts are famously hard. That’s quite a skill.

What other kinds did she make? Did she have other pie specialties?

Thanksgiving
Playoff baseball
College football and its weird traditions
Halloween and horror movies
Unsurprisingly, autumn
Rust belt cities whose heyday was 100 years ago (and their cousin, Baltimore)
Shellfish, mushrooms, beer, apples, and Mexican chocolate albeit not combined
Travel
Etc.

I love everything about this.

Alternatively, maybe don't send the "Winter Warm-Up Tickets on Sale!!!" email about 15 minutes after you trade arguably your best player for minor league arms.

I'm having flashbacks to the Alex Reyes/Jordan Hicks years with Hels in the wings. But I'm also hopeful that the presence of the Mariners guy (Pierpont) and the other smart folks they brought in can help them get better results.

I prefer mine medium rare.

I love the shit out of the fact that they have so much lightning down there now. Clarke joins Doyle and Franklin, and it takes the pressure off of Hence, Mathews, and (whenever he returns) Roby. Much less guys like Lin.
November 25, 2025 at 5:48 PM
A lot of the 2023 sell-off comes to mind. Robberse, Kloffenstein, and Drew Rom. But that was also when the shift was starting and they got Roby, Svanson, and Showalter.

Fully acknowledging I'm on the fence about this deal, but this at least feels like a major departure from the past. The big piece coming back is sporting some triple digit queso, and the prior group would have gotten some dude going 90-92, no swing-and-miss, and lots of command.
November 25, 2025 at 5:36 PM
We'll see but most of what I can find about him is quite positive. Longenhagen/FanGraphs said he's "...an All-Star if he can sharpen his fastball command or develop a good third pitch, like a change or split. If he can’t, he’ll still likely be a high-leverage reliever." Obviously TINSTAAPP applies.

Yes, a fantastic point. If nothing else, they need a split from the past habit of spending on the middle of the market and avoiding the big boys. aka taking half measures when a full one was needed. Looking at you, BrettAndrewDexter Cecilmillerfowler...
