I dag tisdag samlas Östersjöländernas ministrar för fiske, jordbruk och miljö i Stockholm på EU-konferensen Our Baltic III. Vi har inte råd med fler möten som inte leder till aktiv och nödvändig handling. Situationen för fisken i Östersjön är närmast katastrofal.

Fiskpopulationerna i Östersjön minskar snabbt. Tre av fyra sillbestånd är under miniminivåer, bestånden med skarpsill är rekordlåga, torsken har kollapsat & vildlaxen är hotad. Ekosystemet & livsmedelsförsörjningen hotas. Dags för verkstad!

Jag minns när jag som tonårig landkrabba gjorde mitt första dyk på västkusten. Såg något som liknade en leksaksfisk i tången, med häftiga färger som satt helt stilla. Det var en sjurygg. Efter det den har en speciell plats i 💙

The @ICES advice for #European_eel for 2025 is out: zero catches for all life stages, all uses and in all habitats. Other anthropogenic mortalities reduced to zero and habitats restored. Most countries with eel in their waters have a very long way to go. doi.org/10.17895/ice...

Bottom-trawling not only disrupts sensitive ecosystems but also long-term carbon storage. Why then is it so hard to regulate trawling, even in marine PROTECTED areas? That is still a conundrum...

Bottom-trawling not only disrupts sensitive ecosystems but also long-term carbon storage. Why then is it so hard to regulate trawling, even in marine PROTECTED areas? That is still a conundrum...
