Zwei Dinge, die mich an daniel Dennett (From Bacheria to Bach and Back) nerven: (1) er macht Ontologie, will aber nicht wirklich über Ontologie reden.

I regret to inform you that the guys wearing the cringe EU flag hoodies were correct

The economy can also somehow adapt to 25% tariffs. But how are businesses supposed to deal with this extreme uncertainty?
April 3, 2025 at 9:12 AM
Europe shouldn't do any counter tariffs. Theres no point and it will just disrupt the economy more.

The USA leaving NATO would be bad, but maybe not the worst outcome, at least Europe could continue to use the existing structures

One thing I really hate about what's happening right now is that the "billionaires vs the people" folks were at least partially right.

I still think it's mostly a dumb populist narrative. But e.g. Bezos not using his power to form a counterweight is very disappointing.

45% AfD plus 10% BSW in Saxony. BSW excluded from parliament by the 5% hurdle, AfD excluded from government by consensus.

I agree with AfD exclusion, but this must also leave an incredible feeling of non-representation in the eastern states.

Didn't know how Fashism would look like when it'd return but I'll admit I would have bet against the Roman Salute

The cost of what Trump does are much more concealed when it comes to the US itself. But it doesn't mean that they do not exist. The chilling effect for future alliances and investments will be massive, I think.

The most frightening thing about Trump, Musk, and MAGA to me is the ultra-frequent use of lies and falsehoods. It doesn't matter that they can often be fact-checked somewhat efficiently. They completely undermine rational political discourse. This actually started with the Obama birtherism.

America is a powerful country, but I don’t think a peace deal based on Ukraine going with it and Europe enforcing it can work without those parties‘ consent.
February 14, 2025 at 7:26 AM
I think the only good thing about Trump's Ukraine approach is that he's hard to predict even for Putin (unless he's truly in Putin's pocket, which I do not really believe)
